For a week Netherlands lets you take the train for free if you show a book instead of a ticket. Every year, a different Dutch author writes a special book for the Book Week. Everyone who spends more than €12.50 on Dutch books during the festival gets a free copy, which you can show on the train to travel for free. Book weeks around the world encourage people to celebrate reading. People who read regularly suffer less from stress and depression research shows. Adults who read for more than 3.5 hours a week live longer because reading books sparks our brain cells, lowering the risk of neurodegenerative disease. But just 6 minutes of reading is enough to make you relaxed, and a book read before bed can reduce stress level by up to 68%.
